The wound is the place where the light enters you.

Hello, I’m Janny!

I am a first-generation Chinese American psychotherapist (she/her). I come with 7 years of combined experience in grief and loss, complex trauma, and clinical medical counseling. I have provided therapy in foster care, oncology centers, hospitals, and private practice. My work combines my experience in interdisciplinary medical spaces, my training as a psychoanalytic therapist, and my ongoing deconstruction of race, gender, and identity.

In private practice, I have worked with insightful and driven individuals who were grappling with a life transition (break-up/divorce, parenthood, death of a loved one, launching), a new diagnosis, struggling with dread, or facing their childhood trauma for the first time. Common threads include childhood trauma and abuse, children of immigrants, bicultural identity, medical diagnosis, chronic illnesses, imposter syndrome, intersectionality, or overcoming feelings of anxiety, depression, and shame.

In my day-to-day, I am the Clinical Lead with a hospice agency dedicated to Asian, Pacific, Islander (API) immigrants, refugees, and families. I have supported over 300 patients through a medical crisis, including death journey, diagnosis to remission, and bereavement.

I believe in the power of therapy and its ability to hold, heal, and teach. I approach the therapeutic work with inclusion, wonder, creativity, and truth. My style is psychodynamic, mind-body-earth oriented, and trauma-informed. I welcome BIPOC and LGBTQ+.

You don’t have to see the whole staircase.  Just take the first step.

Individual Therapy

My training is informed by psychodynamic theory, Internalized Family Systems, Gestalt therapy, Jung psychology, and mindfulness. I believe the most effective therapy comes from a process that is co-created. I act as a collaborator in your journey, holding space for your voice.

When we have the courage to walk into our story and own it, we get to write the ending.
